Many people wonder what the difference is between a financial advisor and a money manager.  While financial advisors and money managers have many things in common and are complimentary to each other, the two jobs are very different and difficult to be held by one individual.

Financial advisors - also known by other names including wealth managers, financial planners, and investment advisors - understand the specifics of their clients’ financial lives and create a detailed, comprehensive financial plan to best help individuals and families reach specific financial goals.

Money managers, on the other hand, select the securities: the stocks, bonds, ETFs, mutual funds, etc. and spend their time focusing on successfully managing the strategies that your portfolio is invested in.  A quality money manager will manage investment portfolios consistent with their stated investment objectives, manage risk appropriately, and operate transparently.

Michael Minnoch - Owner, Money Manager

Michael D. Minnoch is the owner of Vantage Point Management.  With an accounting degree and background combined with 20 years of experience as a financial advisor, Mike has a large breadth of experience working with clients in various economic climates.  Curious and analytical in nature, he has thoughtfully deliberated investor and market behavior, studied market strategies, and devoted hours of every working day to financial education.  For over 15 years, Mike has been managing a few small family and friends accounts while testing various strategies.  With increasing and consistent success followed by persistent persuasion from his network of associates and colleagues within the financial services industry, Mike finally made the leap in 2017 to the role of money manager where his analytical, computer, and mathematical skills have been able to shine. 

Denim Simper - Financial Advisor

With this transition, the need for someone to fill Mike's shoes within VPM as a trusted financial advisor was realized.  Denim Simper was the obvious choice.  Denim interned at Vantage Point Management while earning his degree in accounting at Westminster College.  Denim has proven to be hardworking, intelligent, and kind.  He is a good listener who asks the right questions.  He has a working knowledge of the industry and is upright, honest, and available when clients’ needs arise.  

Mindy Ferrin - Office Manager

A well-known fact is that the office manager is most often the glue that holds any successful business together.  It is no different here at VPM.  Mindy Ferrin is the office manager here.  Her naturally positive attitude and warm demeanor combined with her helpful nature have proven priceless to all.  With a college degree in psychology and family studies along with the experience of raising 5 boys, nothing fazes Mindy.  With her, problems are meant to be solved and she does it amazingly well.
